I spent a decent amount of time working on a minor (hopefully not that annoying) Twitter avater, with an animation.  After uploading the animated gif, it gave me an error message saying that they no longer allow them, so if you’re wondering how people still have them – it’s because they are grandfathered in.  If you want to keep your animated avatar, don’t ever replace or delete it.  Some think they are annoying, others think they’re eye catching and cool.  I was going to give using one a shot, but oh well.
